[Video]Suhum MP's driver slices a guy in the head during a funeral as NPP supporters scuffle.

At least two people were injured after fights between two competing factions of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region's Suhum Constituency.
In the melee, Bernard Kwasi Amoani, 51, received a major cutlass injury to the head. He has been admitted to the Suhum Government Hospital, while Alexander Odei, who had a minor upper lip injury, has been treated and released.

On Saturday, August 28, 2021, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa, who is seeking to topple incumbent Member of Parliament Boafo Kwadwo Asante, together with some party communicators and Serial Callers, visited the funeral of the late father of one of the communicators, Opare. The Member of Parliament and his entourage, led by Constituency Chairman Frederick Ofosu, also attended at the funeral.

Tensions rose when the MP's supporters allegedly began throwing aspersions on Protozoa and his entourage, even barring them from welcoming the MP.
Mr. Odei, also known as Big Deal, took the microphone to say that they were leaving for other engagements but that they had been denied the opportunity to greet the MP.

This did not sit well with the MP's followers, who attacked him, resulting in a free-for-all brawl. The MP Jamalo's driver is accused of using a cutlass to inflict a wound on his victim's skull.

“When we arrived, the MP and his entourage greeted us, the serial callers, and Protozoa at the funeral, and the MP mistook us for Protozoa, so he refused to welcome us. So one man named Big Deal stepped up to the microphone and announced that we were departing for another engagement, but it should be noted that the MP's spokesperson claims that the MP doesn't recognize us, so if the mourners didn't see us greeting the MP, it wasn't on purpose. So Hannah took the Mic from him violently, and Nana Obo slapped him, prompting the Communication Officer from Asamankese to attempt to separate them and restore peace, but he was hacked,” an eyewitness stated.

Later that day, Charles Gyasi, Suhum Constituency Youth Organizer, went to the Suhum Police Station with Martin Odei and Ernest Lartey, all executive members of the Suhum Constituency New Patriotic Party, to report the event.

Police and witnesses went to Suhum Government Hospital, where victim Kwasi Amoani was spotted in the Emergency Room in a stable condition and responding to treatment.

Medical paperwork were developed by the police and given to the victims to sign.
When contacted, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional Police Command's Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence.
He stated that the Suhum Police Command is investigating the incident in order to apprehend the perpetrators.
